Drive the Dream, Protect the Experience
Renting an exotic car is more than transportation—it’s a once-in-a-lifetime thrill. But with that thrill comes risk. Traditional auto insurance only goes so far, leaving a dangerous gap when you’re behind the wheel of a Ferrari, McLaren, or Lamborghini worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
That’s where Inuity Insurance steps in. Our specialized rental coverage ensures you’re protected when your primary policy runs out—so you can drive with confidence, not worry.
Coverage & Deductible Overview
Coverage options, limits, and pricing vary by rental location and vehicle type. At checkout, your rental agency will show you
the specific Inuity plans available for that state and vehicle.
In general, Inuity offers tiered deductibles based on the class of vehicle you are renting:
- $1,000 typical minimum deductible for standard passenger autos
- $1,500 typical minimum deductible for luxury sedans and higher-end vehicles
- $10,000 typical minimum deductible for exotic and supercars
Actual deductibles, limits, and coverages are determined by the policy form and may differ by state, rental operator, and vehicle.
Refer to your specific quote and policy documents for governing terms and conditions.
Why Specialized Coverage Matters
Exotic and high-end automobile rentals offer an unmatched thrill, but they come with unique risks that standard insurance often fails to address. Most renters lack sufficient primary coverage, leaving them vulnerable to exorbitant repair costs or legal liabilities—especially with vehicles valued at hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Traditional auto insurance frequently caps coverage at the value of the renter’s personal car. If your daily driver is worth $30,000 and you rent a $300,000 supercar, that gap can become a financial nightmare. International drivers may face added complications due to unfamiliar insurance requirements or lack of local policies.
Inuity Insurance fills these voids with specialized, mono-line rental policies designed for the extraordinary—delivering peace of mind and financial security for every mile driven.
Insuring Exotics Costs More
At Inuity Insurance, our daily plan costs ranging from $300 to $999 may seem steep at first glance, but they reflect the unique risks tied to insuring exotic and high-end vehicles. Data shows that the likelihood of a loss occurrence with an exotic vehicle is six times higher than with a standard passenger car, driven by their high-performance nature and the skill required to handle them. When an accident does occur, we’re dealing with vehicles that can cost ten times more than a typical auto—think a $300,000 Ferrari versus a $30,000 sedan. This combination means our potential losses could be up to sixty times greater than those of standard insurance. We price for the real risk and loss ratios to keep coverage robust and the insurance pool stable.
Policy Trigger
Inuity’s coverage doesn’t overlap with your regular auto insurance—it activates only after your primary auto policy has paid out its limits. Once that coverage is exhausted, our excess policy immediately steps in to cover the remaining loss, up to the protection limit of your chosen plan. This means you’re fully shielded from the massive gap that can exist when driving high-value exotic vehicles.
Attachment Point
An “Attachment Point” in an excess policy, such as those offered by Inuity Insurance, represents the threshold amount of loss that must be satisfied before the policy’s coverage begins to apply. It functions similarly to a deductible in a primary insurance policy, acting as the initial layer of financial responsibility that the insured or other available insurance must cover before the excess policy kicks in. Specifically, the Attachment Point is determined as the greater of the limits of the insured’s personal auto policy (if one exists) or the stated Attachment Point outlined in the policy declarations. This ensures that the excess coverage only activates after the underlying primary insurance is exhausted or when no personal policy exists, providing a clear starting point for Inuity’s supplemental protection while aligning with the insured’s existing coverage structure.
We Work with Your Primary Auto Insurance
Inuity's approach to coverage depends on the type of policy you select. For physical damage-only policies, a personal auto policy must be in place to serve as the first layer of protection, covering losses from the initial dollar up to the limits of your own insured vehicle. Inuity’s coverage activates only after those limits are exhausted, and we recommend choosing an attachment point that aligns with your personal vehicle’s value to ensure seamless protection for the exotic car you’re renting.
However, our supplemental liability policies, which also include physical damage coverage for the rented vehicle, offer greater flexibility: they do not require a personal auto policy to be in force. In the absence of a personal policy, these policies feature a drop-down provision, providing a first layer of coverage starting at the stated attachment point, ensuring comprehensive protection regardless of your primary insurance status.
How Your Coverage Is Timed (Calendar-Day vs 24-Hour)
We now offer true 24-hour policies at select partner rental agencies. Everywhere else, coverage is per calendar day.
Calendar-Day coverage (most rentals): Your policy starts on the chosen start date and ends at 11:59 PM local time. If you’ll return after 11:59 PM, add the next day to avoid a gap.
24-Hour coverage (select agencies only): Your policy runs for a full 24 hours from the start time (e.g., 2:15 PM to 2:15 PM the next day). Add extra 24-hour blocks if you’ll return later.
What you need to do: Choose a start time and set a realistic return time. If you’re not sure you’ll be back before your policy ends (11:59 PM for calendar-day; the same start time next day for 24-hour), add the extra day or block to keep protection continuous.
This keeps coverage clear, avoids gaps around late returns, time zones, or daylight-saving changes, and aligns with typical rental pickup/return practices.
What’s Not Covered
At Inuity Insurance, we strive to maintain a safe and responsible coverage framework, and it’s important to outline what is not included in your policy for clarity. Each policy features its own specific limits and exclusions, which should be reviewed carefully. Coverage does not extend to losses resulting from activities such as racing, stunts, or exceeding the posted speed limit by 19+ mph, nor does it apply to incidents involving reckless driving, driving under the influence, or felony traffic violations—compliance with legal standards is essential. Losses due to intentional acts, fraud, or criminally reckless behavior are excluded, as are mechanical failures, pre-existing damage, or use of the vehicle outside the U.S. unless explicitly endorsed. Additionally, our policies do not satisfy state-mandated minimum liability requirements, nor do they cover punitive damages or liabilities arising from commercial use—please adhere to rental agreements and policy terms to ensure coverage.
